Posting parked documents
This process posts documents that exist as drafts. It is deliberately separated from the other link configurations, because posting is something else than linking: it changes the accounts and cannot simply be taken back.
When it runs
A timer of its own, of type K (also written BOOKDRAFT), set up under timers. It runs only the links of the kind "post parked documents" – the three other kinds are left to its sibling timer of type U.
This timer posts
Every other ECM process files documents, links them or creates drafts. This one posts. Set it up with care: its time and frequency decide when documents appear in your accounts. Whoever wants to check first leaves the timer out and posts the drafts by hand – the link configurations create them regardless.
What happens
- The links of the kind "post parked documents" are read. If none is configured, the run ends with a note in the log.
- For each link the start is logged – with key, description and parameter.
- The documents with the matching status are looked up.
- The drafts that were found are posted.
What steers it
| What | Where |
|---|---|
Timer, type K | timers |
| The link "post parked documents" | document links |
| Which status is searched for | document status |
| Which values the document receives | booking rules |
| Watching a run | ECM monitor |
What can go wrong
Nothing is posted
- Is a link of the kind "post parked documents" configured? Without one the timer does nothing – not even when drafts are waiting.
- Do the drafts carry the status the link searches for?
- Does the timer of type
Krun at all? TypeUdoes not post.
A document cannot be posted
The cause is then almost always in the document itself, not in the process: a missing account, a missing cost centre, a blocked business partner, a closed period. The log carries the message SAP returns for it. Check the booking rules – they decide which values are written into the document.
Documents are posted too early
Then the timer runs too often or too early. That is exactly why it is a timer of its own: set it to the time at which the drafts have been checked – or leave it out and post by hand.
