Scanner
Paper documents reach the archive through the scanning workstation. To match a scanned sheet to the right SAP document, ECM-Connect works with barcodes: the document carries a barcode, and the scanned file is matched and linked through it.
What is this for?
- Get paper documents into the archive without manual assignment.
- Establish the link between paper and SAP document through the barcode.
- Control retention and reuse of the barcodes.

How to set it up
- Enable the scan client in the document link.
- Use auto barcode to decide whether the barcode is generated automatically and must barcode whether it is mandatory.
- Define the archive field for the barcode via the
ECMBARCODEFIELDsetting. - Set the retention period via
ECMBARCODERETENSION(in months). - Print the documents – the barcode is applied –, scan them and file them.
